Year one distance learning students begin Module 2: Introduction to GIS this week. Module content can be accessed via webCT. The module provides an intensive, hands on introduction to GIS theory, concepts and software, including a crash course in ESRI's ArcGIS 10.
The module required students to have access to a copy of ArcGIS 10, see my earlier blog post on ways to obtain this. We will also be providing free access to various ESRI Virtual Campus courses for you to brush up your ArcGIS skills, make sure you have enrolled with ESRI for a free Global User Account to use these.
Finally, there are a number of non assessed exercises set during the first part of this module. Your answers and analysis for these should be posted to our student blog gianswers.blogspot.com to share with your peers.
